Overkill? Possibly. But if you want more control, more character, and more clarity in your J-Bass tone — this harness delivers.

 

I built it to see what would happen when you pair Jupiter Condenser Co.’s PURE SILVER FOIL .022µF capacitor with 5N pure silver lead wire, CTS pots, and Switchcraft hardware in a traditional Jazz Bass layout.

 

The result? Fat, responsive lows with beautifully defined mids and treble — all without the dull blanket effect that can plague bass tone controls.

 

No marketing fluff. Just premium materials built for players who want that last 5% of tonal finesse.


 

★ What Sets It Apart

Silver foil caps offer a level of refinement you don’t get with standard tone circuits. They deliver:

 – Smoother, more expressive tone roll-off

 – Clearer highs and enhanced midrange articulation

 – Greater harmonic detail and a more “open” top end

 – A subtle, musical feel — especially when blending with pedals or running clean

• Paired with a .022µF value, this harness gives Jazz Bass players a tighter, more controlled tone sweep compared to the usual .047µF setup. It dials back some of the excess mud while preserving the growl, warmth, and punch that define the J-Bass voice — just with added clarity and usable range.

Compatibility

Fits most USA Fender Jazz Bass models with standard control plates.

Also compatible with most Squier Jazz Bass models; however, factory components (typically Alpha-brand pots) use smaller metric-sized shafts and mounting holes, so careful reaming may be required to fit ⅜” CTS pots.

This harness is wired in the typical Precision Bass configuration — one master volume and one master tone.
