Why Upgrade Your Guitar’s Electronics?
You just picked up a $300 Squier. It looks great, the finish is solid, and it even plays decent. But let’s be real: the electronics are where corners get cut. The pots, caps, switch, and jack are all cheap, inconsistent, and often wired in a way that kills your tone before it even leaves the guitar.
Upgrading your wiring harness is like swapping the engine in a car. You’re taking what’s already good and giving it the performance it deserves. Pickups get all the glory, but the controls, the wiring, pots, caps, and jacks, are the lifeline between your pickups and your amp. And when they’re low-grade or poorly pieced together, even the best pickups sound flat.
I price my harnesses so that for about what you’d spend buying all the parts yourself, maybe twenty or thirty bucks more, you get something hand-built, tested, and ready to drop in. No frustration, no guesswork. Just solder your pickup leads, tighten the nuts, and you’re done.
Even on high-end guitars, the wiring is usually the last thing anyone thinks about. One cold solder joint, one bad jack, one cheap capacitor, and all that craftsmanship goes out the window. Your signal deserves to leave the guitar as clean and pure as possible.
That’s why I use the best components in the industry, CTS pots, Switchcraft jacks, CRL switches, Jupiter capacitors, and Gavitt wire. These companies spend years perfecting what they make for a reason: because tone starts here.
Let me build it right for you, something reliable, professional, and worth being proud of. Because I’m proud of what I build, and you should be too.

Understanding Guitar Tone Capacitors
What they are, what they do, and why they matter.
Capacitors don’t get much attention,
but they quietly shape your tone every time you roll back that knob. This guide breaks down what they do, how they work, and helps you decide which capacitor best fits your guitar and playing style.
Capacitors don’t add magic. They don’t sprinkle fairy dust over your tone.
What they do is control how your tone knob behaves. A capacitor forms a low-pass filter with your tone pot. As you roll the knob down, high frequencies are sent to ground. The result? A smoother, darker tone.
- Higher value (like .047μF) = more treble rolled off
- Lower value (like .015μF) = brighter tone, even with the knob turned down
That’s the core function. But not all capacitors behave the same. What they’re made of — and how they’re made — affects how the roll-off feels: sharp or smooth, sterile or sweet, fast or gradual.
So, if you’ve ever wondered why two .022μF caps can sound different… here’s your answer.

Capacitors don’t make or break your tone.
But they do shape how your guitar responds to you. And when your volume and tone controls feel right, your whole rig just works better.
That’s why we don’t cut corners. Every CLE harness uses real components that do the job right — no hype, no sketchy tolerances, no compromises.
