White Les Paul – Neck Repair & Vintage Paint Match

November 09, 2025

This Les Paul showed up at the shop with a pretty gnarly neck fracture—ran right down the neck and into the fingerboard. Of course, this was back before I was smart enough to document everything, so there’s no dramatic “before” photo—just a nice reminder that I used to live in the moment and not in my camera roll.

After getting the neck glued up properly (none of that sketchy clamp-it-and-hope-for-the-best stuff), the fun part kicked in: paint matching. This wasn’t your typical bright white—this was vintage, slightly-aged white. The kind that says “I’ve been around, but I’ve got stories.” Tweaking the tone to match the years took some finesse, but I’ve always loved that part—making new paint look old in the right way.

Once it looked right, I hit it with clear coat, then sanded and buffed it until it all disappeared like nothing ever happened. No more crack. No more worry. Just a clean, solid Les Paul that’s ready to keep doing its thing.
